Sony's Columbia Pictures has released a kickass new trailer and revealed a brand new title for their highly anticipated sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado. As I've said many times in the past, Sicario was my number one film of 2015 and is one of the best damn action thrillers ever made. So I've got some big expectations for this sequel. Italian director Stefano Sollima takes over directing duties from Denis Villeneuve, who's off prepping his Dune movie. Acclaimed writer Taylor Sheridan returns along with Sicario stars Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, and Jeffrey Donovan. The film also features a slew of newcomers like Catherine Keener, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Isabela Moner, and Matthew Modine.
In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the drug war on the US-Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) reteams with the mercurial Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) to start a war between dueling cartels by kidnapping Isabela Reyes (Isabela Moner of Transformers: The Last Knight), the teenage daughter of infamous kingpin Carlos Reyes. When the mission is exposed, and Graver orders Alejandro to terminate Isabela, the killer’s cold façade cracks.
