As many of you know, production on Disney and Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated live-action Star Wars television series has officially begun and with it, has come a ton of rumors surrounding the project. Now, show-runner and director Jon Favreau has taken to his Instagram account to give us the first official details for the upcoming Disney streaming service series.
According to creator and producer Favreau, the first of its kind series, is now officially titled, The Mandalorian! And the plot synopsis boldly connects itself to two legendary Star Wars characters, Jango Fett and his son, the beloved Boba Fett!
Here’s the detailed description below.
“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…”
Sounds a lot like the many rumors that we’ve been emailed, and actually lines up with a huge story we broke about the live-action series a couple of years ago that never came to be. The new series will be set mainly on the Outer Rim planet of Mandalore. The series is also said to be between eight to ten episodes costing over $100 million dollars according to sources, which means it would rank as one of the most expensive television series of all-time.
The series showrunner and creator Jon Favreau will helm some episodes, along with Star Wars Rebels creator/showrunner Dave Filloni. Earlier today it was also announced that Narcos and Games of Thrones alum, Pedro Pascal was cast as a lead in the series.
So far everything we’ve heard about this is great and obviously we’re all extremely excited for this amazing new, original series! Stay tuned for more news on this project as it becomes available.
