20th Century Fox Changes 'Deadpool 2', 'New Mutants', & 'Gambit' Release Dates

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox is throwing everyone some pretty big curve balls this year. Fox is surprisingly moving their X-Men film release dates. Gambit, New Mutants, and Deadpool 2 all have new official release dates.

On the good news side of the report, Deadpool fans can rejoice as the film will now release a couple of weeks earlier on May 18th. Its original release date was June 1st. Interesting to note, Disney and Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story is set for release the following week. So will they finally announce a move for Solo? Maybe.

Now the bad news side of this report. Josh Boone's horror thriller, The New Mutants will shockingly be pushed back 10 months. The film which stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams and Charlie Heaton, will not see its release until April 13th to February 22nd, 2019.  Finally, the Gambit film which just lost another director will be pushed back from February 14th, 2019, to June 7th, 2019. No surprise on that last one.

While I've got some theories on this move, THR says that insiders are saying that one reason for the change is for the "studio to avoid having an overlap with X-Men movies in certain overseas marketplaces, where Mutants and Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time."
