As we patiently await an official release date and trailer for Soldado, the sequel to our favorite film of 2015, Sicario.
The second chapter in the planned trilogy, will see the return of Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin's character, alongside new characters played by Catharine Keener and Matthew Modine. The ladder of which recently commented about the badass sequel.
While speaking at a press conference while promoting his upcoming shark film 47 Meters Down, actor Matthew Modine, talked up Soldado, who seems to believe it can stand alongside that first movie.
Here's what the actor said:
“They showed a big sequence to me, because they’d been shooting for a couple of months when I came in. I think it might be — it would definitely be as good as [Sicario]. It’s really, really good. Benicio and Josh [Brolin] are on the top of their game, and it was so much fun to work with Catherine [Keener].”
Now, of course all actors must say their films are really, really good. That being said, while the sequel doesn't have Denis Villeneuve behind the camera, its does have Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan once again penning the screenplay. Sheridan has been on a roll lately with Sicario, Hell or a Highwater, and this year's Wind River, which he has written and directed.
We definitely can't wait for this sequel, what about you guys? Sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts. As always, thanks for stopping by EastCoastMovieGuys!
Soldado is set to hit theaters sometime next year!
