With X-Men: Apocalypse not living up to its great potential critically or financially last year, many fans and industry insiders like ourselves have been wondered what direction 20th Century Fox would take the franchise. Would they reboot the whole universe with the upcoming New Mutants film, continue into spin-off territory with films like Deadpool and this year's Logan?
However, it appears that Fox is going to push forward and go full steam ahead with a sequel to Apocalypse with the rumored X-Men: Supernova. According to a report via My Entertainment World we've got a synopsis and working title for the film which will begin production this Summer on June 15th, 2017.
The working title is "Teen Spirit" and here's the synopsis, which seems to retread ground we've already covered in previous X-Men films, but hopefully this will be a more faithful adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga.
“Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!”
