Following the official announcement of the astonishing and still unbelievable $52.4 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney this morning, Disney CEO Bob Iger has addressed some of the many concerns that Marvel fans around the world have be worrying about. During his early morning call with investors Iger confirmed among many other things that Fox's Marvel properties will indeed by joining the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Here's what he said.
We’re also looking forward to expanding the Marvel cinematic universe to include X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool
There you have it folks, from the mouth of Bob Iger himself! A man that wouldn't just randomly say something this important to a company during an official morning call investors in Disney. That being said, there are no other details regarding how exactly all these characters will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bob Iger also confirms that Deadpool will in fact remain R-rated, a topic that has had fans worrying since the initial reveal that Disney and Fox were in talks. That's a stress relief, right? I wonder how an R-rated Deadpool will fight along side the pre-existing MCU characters.
Iger specifically calls out "Deadpool," wants to keep making sequels. "There may be an opportunity for an R-rated Marvel brand as long as we let audiences know what’s coming."— Ben Fritz (@benfritz) December 14, 2017
