Another Friday, another news story involving Warner Bros. and DC Films' much talked about Green Lantern Corps movie! Today it has to do with the casting of Hal Jordan who will headline the planned film alongside another Green Lantern, John Stewart.
According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. has a short list of A-list actors they want for the role of Hal Jordan and the list may surprise you. Headlining the short list is none other than Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, who to not good effect played Hal Jordan in the disastrous 2013 Green Lantern film (Not a chance in hell this happens.)
The other five names that make the list include Tom Cruise (The Mummy), Joel McHale (Community), Bradley Cooper (Guardians of the Galaxy), Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger), and Jake Gyllenhaal (Southpaw). The site points out that none of these stars are currently in talks as of yet, so you should probably take this list of actors with a huge grain of salt.
The casting is currently in the early stages, However David Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Justin Rhodes will be writing the script, with the studio currently in a massive search for a director that fits the role well.
While The Wrap is usually hit or miss nowadays when it comes to comic book news stories, that being said, the list is very interesting. You may remember that we broke a huge story awhile back for actor Armie Hammer being up for the role of Green Lantern. So he's definitely our choice for the role if this report turns out to be true.
So who would you cast as Hal? Let us know in the comments section down below. As always, thanks for stopping by ECMOVIEGUYS!
