First Trailer For Period War Drama 'The Promise' Arrives Starring Christian Bale & Oscar Isaac

TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) appears to be festival that is just going keep on giving this year. With already three or four from the festival that I'm now super stoked for, I now, have yet another to anticipate! Survival Pictures has just released the first official trailer for director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) highly anticipated period piece war drama, The Promise.

Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac headline another impressive cast, and the film is set to premiere this week at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). From the looks of it the film will most likely be an awards contender later this fall considering the sweeping epic nature of the film and the complex thematic elements at play here. Along with Bale and Isaac, the film also stars Charlotte Ie Bon (The Walk), Jean Reno (The Professional), James Cromwell, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Sarafyan, Daniel Giminez Chacho, and Marwan Kenzari.

Check out the official trailer below for this epic looking film and sound off in the comments section with your thoughts. As always thanks for stopping by EastCoastMovieGuys!

Here's the un-official synopsis for The Promise:

“The Promise” is set during the final days of the Ottoman Empire during WWI, in which the Turks waged genocide against the Armenian population. Isaac plays an Armenian medical student who arrives in the city and befriends and clashes with an American journalist (Bale) after they fall for the same women (Charlotte Le Bon). The love triangle unfolds as the characters bare witness to the Turk’s shocking crimes.

The Promise does not yet have an official release date, stay tuned for more news from TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival).
