Earlier today the good folks over at Birth.Movies.Death revealed to the world some insanely awesome news! The new film Going Places starring John Turturro, a film that is a remake of an old 1974 French sex comedy called Les Valseuses, is actually a Big Lebowski spin-off film centered around Turturro's crazy ass character Jesus Quintana!
That's right folks, believe it?
Well, we didn't either. So we took the time today to make some calls, talk to a few friends and a couple of sources close to the film and the report is indeed confirmed, which is freaking awesome! It appears that this is another case (Blair Witch 2 or 10 Cloverfield Lane) of a sequel or a spin-off film completely slipping under everyone's radar.
Birth.Movies.Death is also reporting that Joel and Ethan Coen aren't involved with the film creatively, but is written by Turturro (Very cool), and is currently filming without a distributor lined up. The supporting cast is also pretty rad, Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou, and Susan Sarandon all co-star.
Here is the unofficial synopsis from BMD:
"The film takes its plot from the 1974 comedy Les Valseuses: two petty thieves, Turturro’s Jesus and Cannavale’s Petey, compete to give a woman (Tautou) her first orgasm after she’s roped into their hijinks. Sarandon also ends up in their company, playing a criminal who just got out after a long stint in prison."
I'm out of this world stoked about this film! I've been a mega fan of The Big Lebowski for almost 20 years since that film came out in 1998. I only wish they had done something sooner, but you take what you can get. So what about you guys and gals? Do you like the idea of this spin-off? Do you think it will be any good? Do you care? Has it been to long? Lets discuss it, sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts.
Going Places does not yet have a release date.
