Director Peter Berg will have not one but two films hitting theaters this Fall based on two different heartfelt, terrifying, and shocking tragedies in North America. First up is the film Deepwater Horizon starring Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell in September, which is based on the 2011 BP oil spill disaster. That film looks incredible and you can check out the trailer for it by clicking Right Here.
Now its been revealed that his other film Patriots Day, based on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing Boston Marathon bombing featuring Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K, Simmons and Michelle Monaghan.
I'm personally very excited to see both of these films, even though I feel the Patriots Day film is coming a bit to soon after the actual real events in 2013. Peter Berg is a great director when he is dialed in, and from everything I've heard Berg does have a deep connection with both true-life stories.
Here's the official synopsis and poster below, check'em out and then sound off in the comments section with your thoughts on the upcoming film, and thanks for stopping by EastCoastMovieGuys.
"In the aftermath of an unspeakable act of terror, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of the most sophisticated manhunt in law enforcement history and the strength of the people of Boston."
Patriots Day is set to hit theaters on New York, Los Angeles, and Boston on December 21st, 2016, and nationwide on January 13th, 2017.
