'Alien: Covenant' Danny McBride Reveals Role; Set Video Shows Off Practical Effects
By Matt O.
As fans of the Alien franchise know, all of the Alien films are usually filled with super cool character roles played by some really interesting actors. It looks as though Alien: Covenant will be no different with Michael Fassbender returning as returning as David and Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus, with Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup heading up the cast. However one of the stand out castings for the upcoming Ridley Scott directed sequel/prequel is actor Danny McBride.
Now, during a recent interview with Rolling Stone, actor Danny McBride revealed exactly what his role would be in the upcoming film:
"I’m the pilot of the spaceship Covenant, which is a colonization ship, searching for a planet where we might start life anew. I run the ship."
The actor also revealed something else really awesome, that the film will be using mostly practical effects this time around saying:
"I didn’t know if it would be all green screen, but most of the stuff is practical effects: when you’re running from an alien it’s really a dude in an alien suit coming after you! The sets are incredible and you’re in them: We go through some inclement weather at one point on the spaceship and this whole gigantic set is on a gimbal, shaking up and down. You don’t have to use your imagination."
Sounds pretty sweet right? I can't wait to see what an actor like Danny McBride brings to his role in this type of film. Also speaking of practical effects, check out this cool behind-the-scenes video from the set of Alien: Covenant. Also go ahead and sound off in the comments section with your thoughts below.
Alien: Covenant is set to hit theaters August 4th.
