Oscar Contender 'The Birth of a Nation' Gets A Provocative New Poster
By Matt O.
The Birth of a Nation is by far one of my most anticipated films of this year and one of my top five of the Fall movie season. As a long time fan of the underrated and under seen actor Nate Parker, this passion project of his that he wrote/directed and produced with his life savings is a pretty big deal. Now Fox Searchlight has released a brand new poster for the upcoming slave drama, which is very engaging, but also very controversial and provocative. I'm really excited to see this amazing film and I really hope the film connects with main stream audiences. Check out the poster below and then sound off in the comments section with your thoughts on this upcoming Oscar contender.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Birth of a Nation:
"Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner, accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself and his fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom."
The Birth of a Nation is set to hit theaters on October 7th.
