Editorial: Outsiders In Wakanda!?! 'Black Panther' Speculation!
By Jake Buchanan
"T'Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must defend his land from being torn apart by enemies from outside and inside the country."
On July 6th, 2018 Marvel Studios will release their 18th film in their franchise Black Panther starring Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa the King of Wakanda/Black Panther, and since outside forces are attempting to conquer his homeland the possibility of certain characters appearing in Black Panther may actually happen. Possible appearances by currently established MCU characters will help the film gain viewers while other Marvel characters are introduced for the first time in the MCU will help develop the MCU moving forward. These are five potential Marvel character cameos that may appear in Black Panther, but this is just pure speculation without any confirmation from Marvel Studios of who and/or what will be appearing in the film. Warning! This article does contain SPOILERS from Captain America: Civil War you've been warned.
Throughout Captain America: Civil War there were many conversations between T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Natasha Romanov (Scarlet Johansson) building a potential partnership which may lead into a future Marvel film, and out of all these choices Black Widow arriving and helping in Black Panther is without a doubt the most realistic possibility in which a already established marvel character to appear as a cameo. Even though fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow film to be made Marvel will probably keep the character of Black Widow as a supporting character in different Marvel stand one films, but they have faith in Scarlet Johansson especially what she's done with the character of Black Widow that maybe one day they'll green light stand alone film possibly when they reboot the Marvel cinematic universe.
Kraven the Hunter is hired by Ulysses Klaw (Andy Sirkis) to provide protection from any opposing threats while obtaining Vibranium from Wakanda leading to an ultimate game of cat and mouse, because Kraven becomes obsessed with Black Panther viewing him as the ultimate hunting prize that has ever crossed his path. With the introduction of Kraven the Hunter and Black Panther the character can spin off into the Tom Holland/Spider-Man films well already being introduced into the MCU, and the post credit scene could feature Kraven healing his wounds while watching a news report of a spider like man crawling all over New York inspiring him for his next hunt. Pedro Pascal would make an amazing Kraven the Hunter due to his portrayal of Oberyn Martell on HBO's medieval fantasy phenomenon show Game of Thrones, because of how Pascal played the character by being charismatic while also an intense and intimidating body language which shares some similarities with Kraven the Hunter.
Whether it's mentioned or presented that Wakanda knows of the existence of Atlantis or Ulysses Klaw being the reason for the Atlantean's coming to the surface due to his extractions damaging Atlantis, and possibly have both Black Panther leading Wakanda against Namor commanding Atlantis while Klaw obtains more Vibranium. It would be interesting to see these two kings one of the surface and the other of the sea come face-to-face, and since Marvel Studios has regained the rights for Namor introducing the character himself or possible mention of him and Atlantis would be extremely intriguing. Not only does Sam Witwer look very similar to Namor's design, but also is currently a member of the Disney family by voicing Darth Maul in Star Wars: Rebels on Disney XD and plays Mr. Hyde on ABC's Once Upon A Time, and with his overwhelmingly strong roots into the Star Wars universe it almost guarantees Witwer to be appearing in a Disney film property sometime in the future.
While mining for Vibranium in Wakanda an innocent civilian or Ulysses Klaw accidentally releases an ancient alien symbiote that's discovered in one of the end credit scenes of Black Panther, and this could be the introduction of the Venom Symbiote into the Marvel cinematic universe leading into a future Tom Holland/Spider-man film. Rumor reports indicate that SONY is developing a Venom film series with no connection to Spider-man and the Marvel cinematic universe. This is potentially the only fact that may stop this hypothetical cameo from happening, but until SONY green lights the Venom solo film than there's still a possibility of Venom and Carnage appearing in the new incarnation of Marvel/SONY's Spider-Man. Marvel could introduce both Eddie Brock & Flash Thompson into the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming establishing a potential entry point for Venom or Agent Venom to join the MCU in case SONY decides not to move forward with Venom as a separate film property, and already having an actor or two cast as Flash Thompson and/or Eddie Brock in the MCU would gain more momentum for Venom moving forward as a character and eventually his own possible film series with either Cody Saintgnue as Eddie Brock and Will Poulter as Flash Thompson in the Marvel cinematic universe.
Marvel is famous for their end credit scenes and as of late there's been always one scene that revolves around the approaching Infinity War, and who better to make a surprise appearance on earth none other than NOVA Corpsman Dey played by John C. Reilly from Guardians of the Galaxy. Whether it's taking place at NOVA HQ deliberating about strategies against Thanos or arriving to Wakanda in search for the symbiote that's been released this character could turn out to be more important than expected, because if Dey travel to earth this could be the connection between Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers knowing of each other leading them to come together against Thanos. Another possibility is that John C Reilly is instructed to investigate earth due to rumors of more infinity stones being sighted there, but while leading a group of Nova Corpsman comes face-to-face with Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) who halts them in space asking if they come in peace.
