Paramount Pictures has released a brand new trailer for their epic remake of the classic Ben-Hur later this summer. The film is directed by Wanted helmer Timur Bekmambetov, the film tells the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his brother Messala (Toby Kebbell). Along the way, Ben-Hur learns the value of redemption from Jesus.

I'm definitely still not sold on this unnecessary remake and this trailer doesn't do itself any favors in trying to convince me. It kind of feels like everyone is a bit miss cast in this film. The only hopeful saving grace is actor Toby Kebbell, hopefully he gives us one helluva a performance as Messala.

Check out the new trailer and also sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts on this trailer and the upcoming film.

Here's the official synopsis:

"BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but an encounter with Jesus (Rodrigo Santoro) leads him to the Crucifixion, where he discovers forgiveness and finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman."

Ben-Hur is set to hit theaters on August 12th.
