First Official Image From Ridley Scott's 'Alien: Covenant' Unveiled
By Matt O.
With yesterday being official "Alien Day," there was bound to be some interesting news hitting the interwebs about Ridley Scott's next Alien film Alien: Covenant.
It appears we were right although its not much, it will at least get all of the hardcore Alien fans excited and speculating about the new film. 20th Century Fox released via their official Alien Facebook page the first official image for the film.
The image below reveals the patch for the colony ship Covenant and the logo looks to be a tip of the hat to the Indiana Jones film Raiders of the Lost Ark, or perhaps just any artwork depicting the the Ark of the Covenant since the beginning of time. Also of note is the corporate name/logo at the bottom of the patch Weyland-Yutani, which you may remember from other previous Alien films as the manufacturing corporation always "Building A Better World".
Sound off in the comments with your thoughts on the image below, and let us know how excited you are for the next Alien film from director Ridley Scott!
Check it out.
Just in case you're not completely sold on the upcoming sequel here is the official cast (which does not include Noomi Rapace from Prometheus, but I'm hedging my bets she will at least make a cameo) Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz, Demian Bichir, and Danny McBride.
Here's the official synopsis:
"Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
Alien: Covenant is set to hit theaters on October 6th, 2017.
