Its now official people! The legendary first mate of the Millennium Falcon and Han Solo's best friend Chewbacca is going to be in the young Han Solo Spin-off film.
This was officially confirmed earlier today by Disney CEO Bob Iger during a Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference. Which was then reported by the good folks over at The Wrap.
He started the conference by describing this year's Star Wars spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as follows:
“‘Rogue One’ … is about a band of rebels plotting to steal the plans to the Death Star,” he said. “It takes place right before George Lucas‘s first film, which came out in 1977 and is now called ‘A New Hope.’”
Then he got into some of the Chewbacca details, which wasn't much, but very exciting.
“We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy,” he continued. “And that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there will possibly be more thereafter.”
Well there you have it folks, it looks like we can expect to see the young Han Solo film hitting theaters sometime December, 2018. With 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller on board to direct and Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan writing the script. Its only a matter of time until we get to find out who they cast as the young Han Solo!
Sound off in the comments with your thoughts. Are you looking forward to a young Han Solo film? Why or why not?
