Bryan Singer Reveals 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Scene, Teases Wolverine & Future Villain

March 29, 2016 in MATT O'S ARCHIVE, COMIC BOOKS

By Matt O'Bryant

WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!

SPOILER WARNING!!

In a recent article from a new issue of Empire Magazine hitting store shelves soon Bryan Singer talked about some interesting things involving X-Men: Apocalypse. The director reveals that the Weapon X program will indeed be returning in the upcoming film and even described a pretty cool scene involving William Stryker and some of the X-Men Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), and Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne).

"The quartet have been kidnapped by army twonk William Stryker following a cataclysmic event at the X-Mansion, and wake up in a holding cell. On a balcony above them, Stryker taunts his prisoners, demanding to know the whereabouts of Magneto."

Singer was then asked, how or when we would see Hugh Jackman's Wolverine appear in the film given his history with the Weapon X program and Stryker. The director commented saying that as a “central character, he didn’t fit into this particular story.”

That being said, we all know Wolverine is going to appear in the film, it's just a question of will, he have a small role or just a cameo. My guess is he will show up at some point during the final battle with Apocalypse, to perhaps save the day. Which would be awesome in my opinion.

When asked where the X-Men might go next Singer's answer was the villain known as Proteus.

"I’d love to use Proteus somehow. There’s a lot visually you could do with a character like that."

"Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction."

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 27th.
