RUMOR: Ben Affleck Did Rewrites On 'Batman V. Superman' During Filming
By Matt O'Bryant
With just a month to go till the release of perhaps the most highly anticipated comic book film of all time in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is no surprise that we would begin to learn more and more details on everything surrounding the film, whether it be about the production or about the finished product. Well today a rumor has hit the web courtesy of US Magazine suggesting that Ben Affleck was not to satisfied with the finished script he was given for Dawn of Justice and that he was constantly doing rewrites and touch ups on the script during the production of the film.
"Ben Affleck handled some rewrites of the screenplay while production was ongoing. Apparently once he got dressed in his Batman suit, the Oscar winner would “sit around reworking the script.” The unnamed source indicated that Affleck “wasn’t thrilled with it” and would spend some time tweaking certain things before shooting commenced on multiple occasions."
For a lot of people this may sound concerning or a bit worrisome, but the truth of the matter is, this type of thing happens all of the time during the process of making a film. Whether the film is a micro budgeted Indie or a Mega Blockbuster like Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The only reason I'm really even reporting on this, is because of one particular thing, that differentiates this "script doctor" from others. Ben Affleck has been around a for a long time now, he has had his ups and downs in Hollywood. He's been "around the block a few times", he is an Academy Award nominated actor, and Academy Award winning writer, producer, and director. Which is what makes this such a different scenario.
Director Zack Snyder is one of the luckiest directors on the planet, for the simple reason being, that during the production of arguably the biggest, most complicated, most anticipated film of all time and of his career. The guy that he cast as Batman is also one of the most talented filmmakers working today, and he's helping Snyder, ensure that this film turns out to be as best as it can possibly be!
As a diehard Batman fan, this super excites me and I hope for you, it does as well. Let us know, either way, sound off in the comments with your thoughts on Ben Affleck doing rewrites?
