During last year's Comic Con, 20th Century Fox and Hugh Jackman revealed to the world that they were planning one last Wolverine film starring Jackman, and they revealed a cool teaser image (featured above) with the brooding Wolverine giving the "middle finger" and the hashtag #OneLastTime.
That unique and cool piece of marketing shown way back last summer, revealed that the studio was indeed planning to up the ante with The Final Wolverine and possibly go full on R-rated. Well now that 20th Century Fox has seen Deadpool's mega success at the box office, Insiders are telling The Hollywood Reporter that "the untitled Wolverine threequel, which James Mangold begins shooting in a month, was always designed as a movie that would receive an R from the ratings board once finished because of the level of violence (and likely language) in the script written by Michael Green."
After the success of the R-rated director's cut of The Wolverine (2013) on DVD and Bluray. 20th Century Fox had long been planning to possibly play the "R-rated Card", but with Deadpool making over $500 million at the global box office in a little over two weeks of release. Expect the studio to pull out all the stops, for Hugh Jackman's final battle as Logan aka The Wolverine.
Also of note, is that there are reports flying around everywhere that director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman are planning on adapting the beloved and legendary comic book story-line of "Old Man Logan" for The Final Wolverine film, but nothing is confirmed yet. Check back here for more updates on this project as they move forward. Let us know, are you guys excited to hear that the film will be R-rated? What story do you want Jackman's final appearance to as Wolverine to be about? Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
The Final Wolverine hits theaters on March 3rd, 2017.
