'X-Men: Apocalypse' Bryan Singer Calls Film "Birth Of The X-Men", Plus Low-Res Promo Image

In a recent interview with the website Digital Spy, director Bryan Singer talked about the upcoming X-Men film. The director told the website this film will be the "birth" of the classic X-Men we all know and love. Since Singer is said to be a big fan of the 90's X-Men animated television show, I fully expect for the films to start heading in that direction. Here is Singer describing the X-Men we will be seeing in X-Men: Apocalypse.

In First Class, they were kind of a mutant CIA tactical force team, and Days of Future Past was a time travel film that dealt with a specific incident. This, finally, is the movie about how the X-Men were born - not the school, but the X-Men themselves.

Bryan Singer also talks about being very reluctant to let other directors or filmmakers make X-Men film:

I love these characters. I want to be the guy to pick young Storm, and Jean, and I want to be the guy to pick who Apocalypse is. And to take Magneto into this different place in his life, and to take Raven into this different place in her life. And I want to be the guy to take Xavier’s hair off! That’s me! I don’t want anyone else to do that.

20th Century Fox and Kia Motors are collaborating on another cross-marketing campaign for this year's X-Men: Apocalypse. They did the same thing, very successfully back in 2014 for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Kia produced promotional vehicles, X-Cars, which are inspired by X-Men characters and feature exteriors designed to mimic each characters appearance and powers. X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27th, 2016.

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
