Okay, folks so Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is lighting up theaters right now all across the world and chances are you've already seen the film multiple times like me, (Five Times For Me Now). If you're like me every time you re-watch the film, you start to notice more and more where the much discussed re-shoots took place.
Having watched the trailers and TV spots for the film hundreds of times leading up to the release, it was very disappointing to not see several badass shots or scenes make the final cut of the film. Scenes like, the Rogue One teaming running out of one of the base on Scarif towards that AT-ACT carrying the plans to the Death Star or actor Ben Mendelsohn's villainous Orson Krennic walking through the water and battlefield aftermath looking extremely urgent in his stride.
While it may be years before we ever find out the truth to why some of these incredible scenes/shots were changed or left out of the final iteration of the film, we now know thanks to actor Ben Mendelsohn that there exist an "enormously different" cut of the film.
In a recent interview with our good friends over at Collider, the actor revealed that he performed different versions of his scenes with different deliveries of his lines, which usually happens with any bigger budget film. This is of course gives the director and editors of the film more unique options in the the editing bay.
On top of that, the actor did admit that there are several crucial scenes he filmed that were vastly different in terms of content.
"We did have multiple, multiple ways of going at any given scenario, we had multiple readings of it. So should they ever decided to, there would be a wealth of ways of approaching these different things. And I know from having seen sort of the crucial kind of scenes throughout it, I know there’s vastly different readings of at least four of those scenes."
The actor was also asked by Collider if this meant there was an alternate version of the film due to these huge differences, Mendelsohn confirmed that this was indeed the case, saying there was probably 20 to 30 scenes that were very different of completely different than what we saw in the final theatrical cut.
"Absolutely [there is a different version], with enormous differences within I would’ve said 20 or 30 of the scenes. There really would be. There would be enormously different renderings."
Wow, now that is some very interesting details about the film, that I very much had been told from many different sources was the case. However, no matter how much I would love to see this different version of the film the chances of Disney and Lucasfilm releasing a alternate of director's cut of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is very slim. But you never say never!
So what are your thoughts? Do you want to see the alternate version? Let us know in the comments section down below. As always, thanks for stopping by ECMOVIEGUYS!
