Denis Villeneuve's 'Blade Runner' Sequel Official Title Revealed!

Are you excited folks? Well you should be!

Because, in exactly one year from today, the long-awaited and highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's classic Sci-Fi masterpiece Blade Runner will hit theaters. Now Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment revealed the official title along with a cool behind the scenes photo.

The sequel is officially titled Blade Runner 2049, which means the film is set some 30 years after we last saw Harrison Ford's Deckard and Rachel in the year 2019. That being said, one of the biggest mysteries of the original film was whether or not Harrison Ford's character Deckard was a replicant or not? So beings he is in this film and its 30 years later, he is indeed human or someone found a way to prolong the lives of replicants.

Blade Runner 2049 is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners). Opening October 6, 2017 the movie will be distributed by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International in all media for all overseas territories.

The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, and stars Ryan Gosling together with Harrison Ford, reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

Blade Runner 2049 stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Lennie James and Dave Bautista.

‘Blade Runner 2049‘ will appear in theaters on October 6th, 2017.
