Ben Affleck Explains The Choice Of Deathstroke As The Villain For 'The Batman' Film

Last month DC fans around the world went absolutely bonkers when it was revealed that Deathstroke would be the central villain in Ben Affleck's Batman solo film. Not long after that, it was revealed that actor Joe Manganiello was officially cast in the villain role.

Following the reveal earlier this morning that Affleck's solo Batman film will be officially titled The Batman. Now in speaking with the good folks over at Collider Affleck has also revealed the reasoning behind Deathstroke as the villain for the his solo Batman film.

“He’s a great villain because—I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.”

Pretty cool right? Also add in the fact that The CW's insanely popular television universe has featured Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke as a main villain for years. Having a villain that hasn't been seen on the big-screen, but one that is in the public consciousness is a good move for Warner Bros.

The Batman is rumored to hit theaters in late 2018 or Spring 2019.
