As we all suspected according to the The Hollywood Reporter Director Josh Trank who most recently finished up work on the new Fantastic Four reboot is out as director of the second Star Wars Spinoff film in the new Anthology series being developed by Disney's Lucasfilm.
Josh Trank himself issued an official statement at the official Star Wars site saying:
This news comes as no surprise to any Star Wars fan who has been keeping up with the news lately on the topic. There were already rumblings back a few months ago about Trank's exit, word had gotten out that he wasn't quite the best to deal with on the set of Fantastic Four reboot. There were also reports of him throwing temper tantrums on the set, refusing to work, and destroying set pieces, etc.
It was just a couple of weeks ago when the rumors really started to fly about, when Trank's scheduled appearance on a panel at Star Wars celebration was canceled, with Lucasfilm telling the public it was because Trank had became ill and could not make the trip. Many people in the industry already suspected he was out of the project.
Disney VP of development Hart also released a statement:
Now let the speculation begin who will new director for the second Star Wars Anthology film be? The next few weeks will be really interesting to see who selects to take Tranks spot. We will keep you up to date on any news involving this situation.
