By Matt O'Bryant
Hello and welcome back everyone to the our weekly Box Office Weekend Update.
As expected in its second weekend of release Furious 7 continued to lap the competition bringing in another $60.6 million, making its total domestic gross after just 10 days to $252.5 million. The film has also grossed an astounding $800 million plus worldwide in that same 10 day frame! Along with those numbers Furious 7 also broke the single day box office record in China by taking in an estimated $68.6 million on Friday.
Coming in second place once again at the weekend box office was the DreamWorks Animation's family film Home which brought in another $19 million to take it overall domestic gross to $129.55 million.
The only new wide release of the week was Fox's The Longest Ride which came in third place with a debut of $13.5 million. The film marks another mediocre opening for a Nicholas Sparks adaptation falling inline with other Nicholas Sparks films like classic The Notebook, and Last years The Best of Me. One note about this film is it marks the first leading role of note for the Great Clint Eastwood's son Scott Eastwood.
Rounding out the top five this week coming in fourth place is the Ferrell-Hart comedy Get Hard raking in another $8.64 million. Get Hard has now grossed $71.2 million through three weeks of release.
Finally coming in fifth place this weekend was Disney's live action update to Cinderella bringing in another $7.23 million. Cinderella has now grossed $180.77 million domestically and the film was almost certainly reach the $200 million milestone.
