Director Rupert Wyatt Has Dropped Out Of 'Gambit'

By Matt O'Bryant

What's up guys and gals,

It looks like Channing Tatum is in the hunt for a new director for GAMBIT.

Reports started popping up all over the web a few hours ago that the director had dropped out of the project, and now THR is reporting that director Rupert Wyatt has indeed left the project.  Get the details below.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

One source told The Hollywood Reporter that a changing script caused the film’s budget to be larger than expected, extending the shoot, and prompting the push.

Another source said that the shooting schedule around Mardi Gras caused the reshuffling. Either way, it became a conflict for Wyatt, who had to exit.

The movie project is an important one for the studio, which is hoping that it launches onto the screen as an important character as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, one of the lynchpins of the X-Men universe.

I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project,” said Wyatt in a statement. “I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.
