Movie Reviews: 'No Escape'

No Escape (Review)

By Jacob Fisher

In their new overseas home, an American family soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a coup, and they frantically look for a safe escape in an environment where foreigners are being immediately executed.

Owen Wilson doesn’t get the best rep but he’s really good in drama even though he doesn’t really do much of them. And he kills it in this role. He makes you believe ever second of the craziness you see unfold in front of you. Lake Bell who plays his wife also does a really good job. I will admit I haven’t seen her in much but that’s about to change due to this movie. But the two little girls stole the show for me. The way they react to everything going on around them just seemed so natural. Pierce Brosnan popped up from time to time and when he does it just makes the movie more badass than it already is.

The one thing I loved about this movie is the fact that it doesn’t try to avoid the blood and gore when all the killings is going on. You see blood and body parts over the ruin buildings and burning cars. It really adds to the tension of everything going on.

Second this movie is so tense. Literally from the opening scene to the end you couldn’t take your eyes off the screen. The performances are really believable and put you in their position instead of just standing by and watching. The score is really chilling and drop hints when some shit is about to go down.

The studio did a bad job at marketing but I really do believe that word of mouth will help with this film making a profit. So see this film if you’re in the mood for an edge of your seat nonstop action thiller.
