Movie Reviews: 'Mad Max: Fury Road'

Mad Max: Fury Road review

By Jake Buchanan

Mad Max: Fury Road is directed by Mad Max creator and original director George Miller which stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult.  It’s been a 30 year gap since the original Mad Max movies starring Mel Gibson, but don’t worry if you haven’t seen any of the Mad Max movies and you want to see this one. Fury Road is a continuation of Max’s journey through the wastelands told through the eyes of people who’ve encountered him; which allows newer audiences to just walk in and experience Max’s journey without having to know anything about the previous movies.

Fury Road is such an insanely beautiful action movie that, because this movie has redefined today’s action movie genre as whole. George Miller (71) brings such an intense and gritty view of what action movies could be, but what stands out the most is how this world of action could actually exist in our own with the wide shots of destruction and insanity which personally I found breathtaking.

Tom Hardy is awesome as Mad Max! Although Hardy didn’t talk that much throughout Fury Road it resembled back to the original character of Max, but what Hardy did here without even talking showcases why he is one of the most sought out actors in Hollywood today. At every turn Max was in constant danger which made it more realistic to where we think he’s going to be perfectly fine, but soon as the dust settles from one event here comes a new danger out of nowhere to beat down our hero.

Now what can be debated about Fury Road is which character between Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron is actually the lead? Throughout most of Fury Road Theron’s character is the leader of a group trying to protect people she cares about while finding a new home. Not only is Theron’s character doing some serious damage to the opposing forces, but also has fellow women unleashing all types of fury in attempts to survive the onslaught of the insane tribe hunting them.

Mad Max: Fury Road has to be the best action/thriller I’ve ever seen in my 22 years of existence, because not only is Fury Road a great Mad Max movie it’s also a nonstop thrill ride that I didn’t want to get off of when the movie was over.

If you’re going into Mad Max: Fury Road and have never seen these types of movies before realize before it’s insane! Throw caution out the window and get ready for an epic thrill ride!

That’s why I’m going to give Mad Max: Fury Road a 5/5 Stars for being the best action thriller film I’ve ever seen.
