Box Office: 'San Andreas' Rocks The Box Office!! 'Aloha' Bombs Hard!!

Welcome back to the Box Office Weekend Update here at, we are so glad to have you back!  Now lets take a look at some box office numbers.

Warner Brother's new disaster epic San Andreas starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson destroyed expectations at the box office this weekend bringing in an estimated $53.22 million.  The film marks the biggest opening yet for a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson starring film not including the Fast & Furious franchise films!  Despite poor critical reception the film opened about 15 million more than even the highest expectations.

The other big release of the weekend was the new Cameron Crowe film Aloha starring Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone surprisingly didn't even make it in the top 5 this weekend bringing in an estimated $10 million taking the sixth spot at the box office.  The film also bombed hard with critics earning a lowly 17% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Coming in a distant second place finish this weekend was the hit musical comedy Pitch Perfect 2 bringing in an estimated $14.8 million.  The film has now brought in an amazing $147.54 million in its 17-day run.

In third place this weekend was last week's number one film Tomorrowland bringing in an estimated $13.8 million barely holding off George Miller's epic Mad Max: Fury Road.  The critically acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road came in fourth place this weekend bringing in an impressive $13.63 million in its third weekend taking the film's overall domestic total to an estimated $115.9 million.

Finally coming in fifth place was the unstoppable force that is the Avengers: Age of Ultron bringing in another $10.9 million lifting is Incredible domestic total to an estimated $427 million.
