Editorial: The Dark Horse Of The 'Suicide Squad'

By Jake Buchanan

On January 19th, 2016 the official trailer for Warner Bros. /DC Suicide Squad blew up the internet, and although it didn't give too much away about the plot of the film along with whom the villain/antagonist truly I do believe that a certain character was revealed to be a surprise player in the film.

It's been rumored for months going back-and-forth between Joker (Jared Leto) and Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) being the Suicide Squad villain/antagonist, and with Joker (Leto) being advertised so much could that possibly be a red herring to lead eyes away from Enchantress (Delevingne) who is barely featured in the trailers along with the Suicide Squad themselves.

With that being said if the Enchantress (Delevingne) is the villain/antagonist for Suicide Squad this will be introducing the world of magic into the DC cinematic universe, and will allow Enchantress (Delevingne) to be most likely most powerful character in the film.

With magic being possibly introduced the only member of the Suicide Squad with enough experience with magic in their background would be Katana (Karen Fukuhara), because of Katana’s sword having the ability to absorb the souls of whoever it kills.

During last night’s DC special on the CW Network hosted by Kevin Smith featuring DC Comic Book Writer Geoff Johns three weapons were displayed and talked about. One item on the table was Deadshot's mask, another Harley Quinn's baseball bat, and finally Katana's sword.

Now why was Katana's sword featured alongside those two main character items if it didn't have any sign of importance in the film? Why not Captain Boomerang's obviously boomerang or any of the other characters unique items? The possible answer to both of these questions is that the sword might just be the key that ends up saving the day in the end.

One question I have now is will it be Katana (Fukuhara) saving the day or could it be somebody else in the squad that uses the sword to potentially stop Enchantress (Delevingne) if she is indeed the villain/antagonist from destroying the world and unleashing unknown hell upon it.

Comment down below! What do you believe to be the potential plot and main villain/antagonist of Suicide Squad to be! Do you agree or disagree with this potential plot theory could possibly be of Suicide Squad!?!
