Jared Leto Talks Following Heath Ledger's Legendary Take On The Joker In 'Suicide Squad'

By ECMG Staff

In the upcoming new issue of Rolling Stone, DC Fans, Batman fans, and The Joker fans are treated to very cool and quite lengthy interview with Jared Leto about his career. Of course the main topic that came up was his upcoming role as the legendary Batman villain, The Joker in the David Ayer directed Suicide Squad!

Jared Leto who has been confirmed as going full "Method" acting with his Joker role, gave the journalist who was interviewing him quite the jar when Leto abruptly and suddenly turned to him and said:

"If the Joker did this interview, he'd definitely castrate you and make you eat your own testicles. Just for fun. That's if he liked you."

The conversation turned serious there after when Leto was asked about following in the footsteps of the now legendary performance of the late great actor Heath Ledger, who won an oscar posthumously for his role as The Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.

"Heath did an impeccable, perfect performance as the Joker. It's one of the best performances ever in cinema. I had met Heath before. I didn't know him well, but he was a beautiful person. I think had it only been portrayed by Heath and it was never a comic book, maybe I would have felt that would be inappropriate," Leto explained. "But I thought that given the history, it was OK. The good thing about other people having done this is that you know what direction not to head in."

The actor also went on to speak a little bit about going method for his role and that The Joker actually helped create a tighter bond between him, the cast, and crew.

"The Joker became entertainment for a lot of the crew. So I think we all kind of bonded, even though I was in this place."
