Rian Johnson Shares An Interesting 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' Set Photo

By Matt O.

What's up all you Star Wars Junkies! Got a cool little Star Wars: Episode VIII nugget for everyone to check out today!

Just a little while ago director Rian Johnson took to his Tumblr and Twitter account to post this interesting set photo which you can check out below. The caption reads "In the home stretch" which probably just refers to the fact that principle photography on the film has almost wrapped and we should have an official announcement on that sooner rather than later considering filming started way back in February.

Its what's in the photo that is the questionable part, its obviously meant to be a tease, but of what? In the photo below you can clearly see what is Luke Skywalker's old Jedi robe on hangers at the bottom of a rock cliff. Now why would the director show us just the Jedi cloak and not just the Jedi in the cloak?

Will Luke Skywalker sacrifice himself Obi Wan Kenobi style? Is the robe going to fall to the ground Star Wars: Episode IV style, after some kind of epic showdown? Perhaps? I certainly hope not, But let the speculation begin!

Take a closer high-definition look at the image below:

So what do all you guys and gals think, is it just Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker wardrobe hanging up, or does it possibly infer an Obi Wan Kenobi ending to Luke Skywalker in Episode VIII? Sound off in the comments section with your thoughts, thanks!

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to hit theaters on December 15th, 2017.
