By Matt O.

Fox Searchlight has just released a new trailer for The Birth of a Nation written, directed, and starring Nate Parker as the legendary slave and preacher who lead an uprising against his masters and others in the antebellum South. The film also stars Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Penelope Ann Miller, Aunjane Ellis, Jackie Earle Haley, Mark Boone Jr, Colman Domingo, Dwight Henry, Esther Scott, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Gabrielle Union.

The new trailer is spellbinding and the film is pretty much guaranteed to be a sure fire hit critically and financially this fall! I'm really excited to see the film and really just can't wait! What about you guys and gals? Sound off in the comments section with your thoughts below.

Here's the official synopsis:

"Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself and his fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates and uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom."

The Birth of a Nation is set to hit theaters on October 7th.
