Ben Affleck's 'The Batman' Film Will Be An Original Story

By Aric Sweeny

On a recent Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Press Tour, Ben Affleck was asked about which famous Batman story-line he plans on using for his upcoming The Batman solo film; Affleck said the following:

“I think what I would do, what I probably would do, is in some ways what Zack did with this movie, which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it because I wouldn’t want the fans to already know the story and be familiar, but I would borrow, steal, great things that have been done before in the comics.”

Mixing and matching different comic book story-lines into one film isn’t uncommon; BvS did it with such stories as "The Dark Knight Returns” and “The Death Of Superman”, and the MCU films sprinkle in many different story-lines into their films.

I can't wait to see what Affleck does with his solo Batman film, it will be interesting to see how all shakes out. Ben Affleck will be the first actor to help write the screenplay and direct the Batman film he in which he is also starring in. Every since Affleck's comeback a few years ago, he has directed three of the best and most critically praised films of the past decade with Gone Baby Gone, The Town, & Argo. Argo of course landing him his Best Picture win. He also won an Oscar for co-writing the screenplay for Good Will Hunting back in the mid-90s with his best friend Matt Damon.
