Marvel's Captain America: Civil War started off strong at the box office this weekend taking in $25 million in Thursday night screenings and now it's being reported that the film also had one of the biggest single days at the box office ever on Friday.
The film reportedly took in $75.3 million in Friday on its way to at least a $180 million weekend, which will place the film as the fifth biggest opening weekend of all time domestically. That tally also gives the film the 8th biggest opening day ever domestically.
While some industry insiders had projected the film to have an even bigger opening (myself included) these numbers are nothing to be ashamed of.
The film is destined to join the billion dollar club at the world wide box office, Captain America: Civil War currently sits at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and has an "A" Cinema score.
