By Matt O.

The first trailer for writer-director Matt Ross' upcoming film Captain Fantastic has hit the "Interwebs" and it looks quite frankly.....fantastic! The film stars the great Viggo Mortensen as a father of six children who lives "off the grid" in the wilderness, and then loses his wife to a tragic disease and must attempt to bring his children back to "normal" society in the "big city".

The film also stars George MacKay, Frank Langella, Samantha Isler, Annalise Basso, Nicholas Hamilton, Shree Crooks, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Zahn, Erin Moriarty and Missi Pyle also star.

Check out the awesome trailer below and then sound off in the comments with your thoughts.

Here's the official synopsis:

"Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society, a devoted father (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults. But when a tragedy strikes the family, they are forced to leave this self-created paradise and begin a journey into the outside world that challenges his idea of what it means to be a parent and brings into question everything he’s taught them."

Captain Fantastic is set to hit theaters on July 8th.
