Ron Howard To Direct Robert Downey Jr.'s 'Pinocchio'

According to the Tracking Board, Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind) is now attached to direct Warner Bros.' Pinocchio. The project has been in development for the past few years with several different filmmakers and actors involved. Acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson, was most recently attached to write and direct before leaving the project last Fall. Now that Ron Howard has come on board to direct the film, expect things to start moving very quickly according to sources.

The film will be based on the classic book by Carlo Collodi, and will star Robert Downey Jr.(Avengers, Iron Man) as "Geppetto as he sets out to find Pinocchio when he goes missing." No other story details are known at this point.

Pinocchio does not yet have a release date.
