The Final 'Wolverine' Set To Begin Production This April

By Matt O'Bryant

James Mangold's upcoming sequel to The Wolverine is set to hit theaters in 2017, and will mark Hugh Jackman's final appearance as the legendary Wolverine character. While there is no official details on the film, it has been hinted at by Hugh Jackman himself that the story will be losely based on the classic comic book storyline "Old Man Logan". According to industry tracking site My Entertainment World, 20th Century Fox is planning to begin production on April 25th, 2016 in New Orleans.

Interesting to note is the fact that 20th Century Fox has another X-Men property filming in New Orleans this year, which is none other than Channing Tatum's Gambit. I find this rather intriguing considering the to comic book characters are very closely intertwined in the comics. As we've been reporting for months now, I almost guarantee Wolverine will be making a cool cameo in Gambit. But nothing is confirmed as of now. We will keep you posted with more details on these projects as they become available. The final Wolverine is set to hit theaters on March 3rd 2017. One last thing to note is the possibility of a Jackman cameo in this month's Deadpool and/or this summers X-Men: Apocalypse. Fingers crossed!

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27th, 2016.
