Kingsman: the Secret Service was an amazing movie in the driest months of the year.

As expected the movie which just topped $400 million worldwide box office has had a sequel green lit. Matthew Vaughn will return as director editors assumed that Taron Edgerton will return to star in the film.

Matthew Vaughn said before Kingsman was such a huge success during an interview:

I’d love to do a sequel, but it’s really up to the public isn’t it? We’ve got some really bold ideas. If you think about it, this is the origin story of Eggsy. Eggsy is now the true modern gentleman spy. So there’s a journey we want to put him on. I love the idea of there being none of that training crap, this is the real modern day gentleman spy going off to deal with quite the... (stops himself) Again, there’s some really crazy stuff we’ve got planned. But I can’t do it if no one goes to see it.

It has been speculated that Colin Firth will return in some capacity whether through flashback or actually returning as a key player in the film.

After the opening of the film Vaughn spoke about bringing Colin Firth back and this is what he said:

A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I’m coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I’ve got a feeling we’ll figure out a way for having Colin back.

(Spoilers over) the only problem with the Kingsman sequel is finding a villain that can be a worthy successor to Sam Jackson. I loved Kingsman and think this is amazing news.
