Fantasy Drafting: Marvel's "Young" Spider-man

By Jake Buchanan

Hello and Welcome everyone,

Fantasy Drafting: Marvel’s “Young” Spider-Man!!!

All the prayers and dreams of every Marvel movie and comic book fans have been answered, and that’s Spider-Man finally being able to be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Now there are a few questions that need to be answered since this major transition is taking place; will Marvel retell the story of Peter Parker from the beginning?  Should Marvel go a different route with Miles Morales as Spider-Man instead? Finally how long will it take them to find their new Spider-Man? Now Sony Pictures will be involved with the Spider-Man franchise still but they’ve made it clear that Andrew Garfield will not be returning to the role in upcoming films. With that being said it’s time for us at East Coast Movie Guys to do what we do best, and that’s to fantasy draft actors who should portray the famous WebCrawler in the MCU!

Round One drafts… Logan Lerman! There’s no doubt that a lot of Marvel’s fan base is gathering around this you actor to pick up the mantle of Peter Parker, but the question is will Lerman accept the responsibility? Lerman has proven that he can carry a franchise such as the “Percy Jackson” series, and also has broken out in good roles such as in “Perks of being a Wallflower, Fury, and 3:10 to Yuma”. Lerman definitely has a lot of potential which has seen in most if his works, but we at East Coast Movie Guys think that Marvel Studios should definitely consider Lerman as the first round choice for Peter Parker.

Round Two drafts… Devon Bostick! Bostick is currently on The CW’s “The 100” as Jasper; a somewhat awkward comedic underdog who constantly gets enormous obstacles thrown his way. Bostick’s portrayal of the character “Jasper” basically mirrors’ that of Peter Parker in a sense, because as stated above in the beginning of “The 100” Bostick’s character was the awkward comedic underdog but now is developing into the role of a leader due to the responsibility of looking after his people. What Bostick is doing great with the “Jasper” role is portraying “with great power comes great responsibility” which is the biggest part about being Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Round Three drafts… Dylan O’Brien! Yes, the “dark horse” choice is Dylan O’Brien due to the fact that currently O’Brien is leading the “Maze Runner” franchise which has a sequel on its way. If you’ve watched MTV’s “Teen Wolf” than you know how good O’Brien’s comedic timing is, and also how his character “Stiles” isn’t even the main character but stands out the most. Dylan O’Brien definitely has that raw potential aspect about him as seen in Season 3 of Teen Wolf when O’Brien dropped the lovable best friend character and formed into a sinister villain. Overall Dylan O’Brien is a definite future player in the business, and we at East Coast Movie Guys would definitely want to see either Marvel Studios capitalize on his potential.

Also I have a special announcement:

I will be doing TWO more fantasy drafts in regards to Marvel Studios potential Spider-Man! One draft will center on the Miles Morales/Spider-Man character, and the other will be mainly around the “Adult” Peter Parker/Spider-Man character. If you have some names you want to throw in the hat for those choices comment down below!  Other than that I would like to say thanks for taking time out of your day to give this a read, and what do you think about the potential names for “young” Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel cinematic Universe?
